The Last Laugh

They say that you should ‘write what you know’. Well the story for The Last Laugh really kicks off in Chapter 2 when James Greene, our hero, slips out of the Broadway launch party for his new film featuring one of his well known characters, Professor Hugo Mountford, and decides to talk a walk south down Manhattan Island, visiting various bars along the way, before getting the train out to JFK airport and catching his night flight home.

Indeed I have done that, after just 48 hours in the Big Apple (despite having my passport stolen – top marks British Consulate). But then the difference between me and James is that, whereas I did visit a bar exactly like the one he ends up in, I did then catch my flight. James, on the other hand, ends up doing a deal with one of the top tech company chiefs in the world. Such is life, or novels.

After that, and in no particular order, The Last Laugh takes us to Texas, Arizona, London, southern Italy, Sicily – and a small village on the Norwegian coast.

The plot that binds these interesting places together is the existence of a virtual world; Eternal Light where anyone can be an avatar and do pretty well what they like. What they can’t do is murder each other, which is exactly what James Greene asks the Mafia to do for him. Even though the victim doesn’t, actually, exist.

Why that has to be done, and where it leads James (clue; somewhere cold) just needs you to click on the link and buy the book, as always, available as a paperback or Kindle download. Hint, there’s a romantic ending. Just in case that decides any hovering fingers to press the Enter key!

Oh and….cheesy ending: everyone’s a winner because it’s so cheap, you’re bound to have…wait for it…the last laugh.
